I got up at 5:00 a.m. today to take my friend, James Loewen, to the airport. He’s off to Wash., D.C. to march for the human rights of baby boys. I couldn’t go (too much travel and too many babies due, right now) but I thought the least I could do was facilitate James’ trip. He was very excited and nervous about showing his video on the history of the intactivist movement. He’s one of those perfectionist types so, no matter how much time he’s spent on it, it’s never quite done. I started crying just seeing the rough draft a few weeks ago so I know the audience in Wash., D. C. will love it. Here’s the info on the march. Please let anyone you know in that area have a copy of this. If they can go down and support the display for even a few hours, it will make a difference to everyone there. Gloria

Rules for demonstrating at the Capitol and White House/Lafayette Park:
“Signs, Banners and Placards: Signs, banners, and placards are permitted as a
part of a permitted activity. All supports for these items must not exceed
three quarters (¾) of an inch at their largest point, have dull ends, and made
entirely of wood. There can be no nails, screws, or bolt-type fastening devices
protruding from the wooden supports.”
NO. You can not drive stakes into the ground. All banners and signs must be
hand held. But we have been able to get away with leaning the signs against our
wagons, bikes, strollers. etc. But someone has to be nearby at all times.
Leave anything unattended and it will be confiscated. Worst yet, they’ll think
it’s a bomb and clear the entire Capitol grounds.
============
NOW….the White House sidewalk and :Lafayette Park.
On the side walk in front of the White House you MUST keep walking/moving.
You can not just stand. You must walk. If you want to walk in baby steps? ok.
But you must keep moving. Literature can only be given to those that ask. Don’t
try to force people to take literature.
Lafayette Park…. another set of rules.
Nothing can be left laying around. Once we march, if anything is to be left
behind, it will have to be placed on a small stage like platform and someone
will have to “baby-sit” the stuff. Hopefully we won’t leave anything behind.
While in the park anything not being held has to be on the two platforms I am
bringing. One for my large wagon, the other as a place for any other stuff that
needs to sit.
The most important thing to remember is to be somewhat professional. No
screaming or yelling even if you are attacked. Be considerate when handing out
literature. Don’t be forceful. You can hold literature in your hand. But don’t
chase after anyone.

The 2 most important things we can do is educate and demonstrate.
We try to educate on a daily basis. We must also try to demonstrate.
Join Us !
March 30th is the day the FGM bill became law in 1997. We need to
use this day to ask our lawmakers about their failure to provide the same
genital protection for our boys.
Please join us Monday morning, March 30th, as we gather in Lafeyette Park
in front of the White House and prepare to march on the streets of Washington.
At 2:00pm we will march from the White House to the U.S. Capitol.
If you can’t make it on Monday; please try to join us during the weekend
on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
I can’t express enough the need to gather in large numbers.
Please help us spread this message.
Gloria,
Did you see this new on The National (CBC) yesterday night ?
The onslaught of the medical stablishment keeps showing up
http://www.cbc.ca/national/blog/video/healtheducation/rethinking_circumcision.html
Yup, saw it. Here’s the BBC point of view which points to the American “obsession” with making circ the cure for African Aids. It’s the quickfix method and it’s so sad that no one is stopping it.

Quote:
Dr Colm O’Mahony, a sexual health expert from the Countess of Chester Foundation Trust Hospital in Chester, said the US had an “obsession” with circumcision being the answer to controlling sexually transmitted infections.>
